‘The SSBP likes to hold its meetings in ancient student cities around the world’
Stephan Huijbregts is Assistant Professor at Leiden University and Senior Researcher at the Leiden Institute for Brain and Cognition. He is one of the driving forces behind the 20th International Congress of the Society for the Study of Behavioural Phenotypes (SSBP) that will take place in the historic city of Leiden in October 2017. The conference will attract around 200 participants: scientists and clinicians who specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of genetic disorders.

Ton van Raan is Professor of Quantitative Studies of Science, Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) at Leiden University. Professor Van Raan’s main research area concerns the design, construction and application of quantitative indicators on important aspects of science and technology. Leiden will be the European City of Science in 2022. The ESOF Supervisory Board of EuroScience has awarded the organisation of the EuroScience Open Forum to the two cities of Trieste and Leiden. ESOF 2020 is going to be organised by the Italian city of Trieste and Leiden has been given the honour of organising the prestigious conference in 2022.
On 29 June both cities presented their proposal in Strasbourg. Leiden University, the Municipality of Leiden, Leiden Marketing and The Hague Convention Bureau have successfully joined forces for the organisation in Leiden.

From 16 to 19 July 2019, Leiden University will host the international Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS) that brings together some 1,500 academics from all parts of the world. This was announed today by Rector Magnificus Professor Carel Stolker during the celebration of the Dies Natalis, the university’s foundation day. The news was confirmed by Dr Paul van der Velde from the International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS) at Leiden University and congress ambassador.
